Marketing Minimalism: Market Your Services in Less Time

Does marketing stress you out?

If you're like me, you probably feel like you're never doing enough.

You've taken countless marketing trainings even though, deep down, you already know what to do.

You've considered hiring someone to do it for you.

Or spent countless hours researching and planning without actually creating.

Then the weekends, and you're mad at yourself for not making any progress.

This is the creators guilt cycle, my friends.

My cure? Marketing Minimalism.

Keep reading to find out how to simplify marketing and maybe, just maaaaaybe, have fun with it.

Marketing Minimalists apply the 80-20 rule

Only 20% of your followers are ideal customers.

That means 80% of the people following you will never consider buying from you. Ever!

So, free yourself from your desire to be popular (Look, I get it. We all want our stuff to get loads of attention and love).

And only spend time building content for the 20% who might buy.

How to find your 20%

Look at your past clients.

Psssst. Referrals don't count because they're out of your control.

What do they have in common? Sector? Values? Team size? Pains? Goals? Get to know the people you currently attract.

When I first launched my branding business, I tried to write for scaling startups. Yet, the clients I attracted were lifestyle entrepreneurs in 1-3 person service businesses.

Once I had that data, I was empowered to write this blog post.

It's relevant to you but totally irrelevant to startup CEOs.

And that's the point.

The secret to Marketing Minimalism

Marketing minimalists fill their pipeline with a single marketing strategy. You heard me. Just one.

They don't juggle 3 channels.

They don't hop on the latest trend.

Or quit when they don't see immediate results.

Us professional services providers are in the relationship business.

A single post. A single email. A single event. A single TikTok…. is not enough to make a connection.

Marketing minimalists master one strategy that's proven to get them clients. Then they free themselves from the need to do more.

This is how to break the cycle of creators guilt.

5 Marketing Minimalist strategies to try

  1. LinkedIn profile funnel
  2. Build an online community
  3. Freebie to email nurture campaign
  4. Host an event series
  5. Cold outreach
  6. Content redistribution
